For two years now I have had the privilege of teaching Pet Tech First Aid and CPR classes for the Torrance Animal Disaster Team and through that connection learned about Noah's Wish: "a unique animal welfare organization dedicated exclusively to rescuing and sheltering animals in disasters."
This February I participated in Noah's Wish in-field volunteer training at Fairplex in Pomona and then helped staff the Noah's Wish Public Awareness Booth at the Los Angeles Marathon Expo. The mission of Noah's Wish is not only to save animals during disasters but also to mitigate the impact of disasters on animals through educational outreach programs.
Of all the individuals I talked with during four hours at the Expo, only three had a disaster plan in place for their pets.
Do you?
